United States History
Course Offering Information
A chronological approach to the study of the United States from the period of the Explorations to the present. This course covers political, military, economic, religious, social, and cultural developments. Particular emphasis is placed on the people who have helped shape our nation.

Course Standards
Semester 2:
1. Trace the rise of the United States to its role as a world power
2. Identify key people and events
3. Distinguish key domestic and foreign conflicts/resolutions and their causes/effects
4. Form valid generalizations about various eras in United States history
5. Exhibit appropriate skills for interpreting maps, charts, graph, etc.
6. Identify bias in written, oral, or visual treatment
7. Evaluate trends and their influence on the United States
8. Examine the roots of cultural conflict and the nation’s treatment of ethnic groups
9. Communicate information logically using basic language arts skills
