AP United States History

Course Offering Information

AP US History is a rigorous survey course covering American history from the Pre-Columbian period to the present. The class is taught in accordance with the AP U.S. History curriculum framework and is designed to prepare students for the AP U.S. History exam on May 6, 2022.

Course Standards

Semester 2:
1. Trace the rise of the United States to its role as a world power
2. Identify key people and events
3. Distinguish key domestic and foreign conflicts/resolutions and their causes/effects
4. Form valid generalizations about various eras in United States history
5. Exhibit appropriate skills for interpreting maps, charts, graph, etc.
6. Identify bias in written, oral, or visual treatment
7. Evaluate trends and their influence on the United States
8. Examine the roots of cultural conflict and the nation’s treatment of ethnic groups
9. Communicate information logically using basic language arts skills
